Reflection section

So in wanaga we have been doing silent reading, the book I have been reading is a book is  a magazine, in this magazine I read about these snow owl's did you know that now owl's are one of the most fierce animals alive. So many people are surprised that a little baby snow owl turns into a fierce predator, snow owl's like to eat lemming, an adult snowy owl eats 1,600 lemmings each year snowy owls have feathers on there feet to keep their feet warm. An adult snowy owl prowls across the snow in Canada an snowy owl has bristles on their beaks that help them sense nearby objects, female snowy owl's stay with there young while males bring the food to feed the female. once he brings the food the female snowy owl breaks the easy to chew parts and feeds it to the young.

Music through time (Spiritual song)

Slaves back in the day use to sing spiritual songs for house praises and they also used it for when people would die. Slaves became very religious people, church people so when they would sing they would add some bible verses to the songs they were singing. The way they would sing is that they would get into a group they would have bush meetings and there would be one leader who would sing while the others hum along. After the leader finish saying something the group would sing along with her, also when singing the song they would also do dances and sometimes they would enter ecstatic trance.

They were used for:

  • Uplift slaves.
  • Give them hope.
  • Church, funerals and if allowed weddings.
  • Relay secret messages to help them escape, like wade in you water.
Harriet Tubman was born into slavery, Tubman escaped and came back trying to help others escape approximately 70 enslaved people including family and friends. Using safe houses known as underground railroad, the underground railroad  was a network of secret routes and safe houses they were used by enslaved African-Americans to escape into free states and Canada.
Wade in water:

Harriet Tubman used the song Wade in the water to tell escaping slaves to get off the trail and into the water to make sure the dogs slave catchers used couldn't sniff out their trail. People walking through water did not leave a scent trail that dogs could follow. Read the words of "Wade in the Water."

It just about connecting it today because the black live matter and connecting the rappers and singers songs to the olden days for when they use secret meanings. We also still use it in church and other things.

Model Atom

Aim: To make a model atom

Method:

  1. Choose an atom to make ( one between Hydrogen and Neon)
  2. Work out how many protons, neutrons and electrons it has.
  3. Assign protons and neutrons to a particular color bead.
  4. Get a ball blue tac and stick the protons and neutrons to this to make your nucleus.
  5. Cut out the appropriate electron shells and draw on the electrons with vivid.
  6. Connect the nucleus and electron shells and draw on the electrons with vivid.
  7. Create a label to go above the model so people know what you have created.
Results:

Discussion-
Atomic+mass number = 3/7
Number of protons = 3, neutrons = 4 and electrons = 3
Electrons arrangement - We had 2 dots in the middle shell and 1 dot on the second shell.
2 facts about your atom - Lithium is the lightest metal, lithium is used extensively in rechargeable batteries.

Conclusion
So in the end my atom model did work it as you can see in the photo but it broke a part afterwards, I would've add more blue tac to the atoms to the nucleus so it doesn't brake a part.

Health (Binge Drinking)

So for the past few weeks in health we have been working on discovery questions, so first we had to choose a topic I choose to do binge drinking.  My questions I choose were how does it begin, who can/can't, when should you stop, what diseases does this link with, and why would someone be not or against this. Down below you can see my slideshow I made before we could do the slide we had to do a doc answering the questions after we have finished the doc we had to make a presentation. You could make the presentation on  powtoon and other websites our teacher insist we don't use slideshow but if do to add pictures and make it look interesting.

Condensation (Science)

Filtration: Solid + Liquid >

Evaporation: Liquid ( solid dissolved in liquid) > gas > solid

Distillation: Liquid ( solid dissolved in liquid) > gas > liquid solid

What is :
Evaporation: heating liquid, turns to a gas so we can separate a solution, by evaporating away the solvent to leave a solute (solid).

Condensation: cooling down a gas, turn into a liquid it is a reverse of evaporation where liquid water becomes a vapour.

Aim: To separate a solute from a solvent in a solution using distillation.

Equipment: A solution of saltwater, conical flask, heatproof mat, a delivery tube and bung, Bunsen burner, tripod, gauze mat, retort stand, boss head, and clamp, boiling tube

Method:

  1. Set up equipment as shown in the diagram.
  2. Add approximately 50 ml of saltwater to your conical flask.
  3. Light your Bunsen burner. Open the air hole and gently push the Bunsen burner under tripod.
  4. Heat the solution until most of the solvent has been evaporated. Turn off your Bunsen burner.
Hypothesis:
I think that when we heat the coke zero we won't see in solid after it is finish but I do think that when we do it to the normal coke it will leave sugar behind.

Notes:
  • So for the first few minutes there were small bubbles that would occur a few times.
  • After awhile the coke started to evaporate.
  • The gas started to condensation and turned into liquid.
  • Now the coke is changing from coke to water the more the liquid starts evaporate because after the gas starts to condensation and turn into liquid.
  • After it is all finish there is only a thick layer of sugar that is black, there are also some of the colour and adaptive.
Conclusion:
All that was left behind in the normal coke was lots of dissolved sugar and in the coke zero there was less dissolved sugar and adaptive.

Science (Dilution)

Aim: The aim of this experiment is to do Serial Dilution

Method: 6 test tube in the first test tube we put 10ml of water and in the rest we put 5ml, we put potassium permanganate to the 10ml test tube. Move 5ml of the liquid from the 1st test tube to the next and next etc.

Hypothesis: That test tube 6 will be the most dilution and the 1st test tube will be the most concentration.

The one that the most concentration was the 1st test tube, I knew that it was going to be the 1st test tube before we started because. We put the potassium permanganate so when we put 5ml of water.

Holiday (Baby Cats)

During the holiday I always was outside and I would always see a cat going into this bush I always wondered why the cat keep going in the bush. After awhile I didn't see the cat go in the bush anymore so I went looking for the cat and found it dead on the road it got run over. So since I've always  wanted to know why that cat keep going to the bush I went to look, as I got closer to the bush I heard meow's from inside when I got inside I saw a another cat scratching at the baby cats and hissing them so I scared it away. I took the baby cats in and took care of it and after a week 1 they turn in to some big mystical lion and they said they would be my guardian angels and take care of me.
