Refection

The book I was reading today was called Tokyo ghoul, Tokyo ghoul is a Japanese based show it is an anime that a lot of people enjoy watching. There are book versions of the show and some people think that the book called manga is way better than the anime. The reason I got hooked to the show is because how it is animated and how they show there emotions in the show. The show is based on a teen boy who gets turned into a ghoul, a ghoul is like a vampire but they don't just drink blood they eat the whole human body if they don't they will get weaker and weaker until they can't defend themselves and die. In the show there is people who protect the humans from the ghouls, they are called the doves they use specialized weapons made from the remains of ghouls and use it against the ghouls.    Watch Tokyo Ghoul | Netflix

The main character goes through a lot of character development during the show in season 1 he is a shy weak kid but he then get tortured which turns him into a bad guy in the next season. But then in season 3 he turns good and has sex with a side character who is important to him. So overall if you have some free time over the holiday I suggest that you have a watch.

Declaration of Independence NZ

In 1830 there were 100,000 Māori and 100 Europeans living in New Zealand. The behavior of the Whalers, the Missionaries’ desire to help protect Māori rights and the Musket Wars were reasons that a treaty was needed. The Declaration of Independence was another contributing factor to the need for a treaty.

One reason that a treaty was needed was the lawless behavior of some of the British Settlers like whalers. This was important as the whalers wreaked havoc especially in Kororareka where they arrived having been at sea for months. The British whalers caused a lot of problems for the Maori, for instance when they would dock at Kororareka they would start drinking until they were out of control. This would lead to fights with each other or the locals, prostitution, and diseases. The combination of the whalers lawlessness and trade were contributing factors for local Maori in signing the treaty.

Another reason that a treaty was needed was to protect Māori rights. One group that felt strongly about this was the missionaries. The missionaries and the Māoris had a good relationship, the missionaries also taught the Māori adults how to read and write. The missionaries were worried about people buying a lot of Māori land so they bought large tracts of land, sometimes as a type of trustee on behalf of Māori. There were among the key reasons why the missionaries supported the treaty and actively encouraged the Māori to sign the treaty. Due to the missionaries and Māoris good relationship it was a strong reason the Māori signed the treaty.

Another reason that a treaty was needed was the Musket Wars. 20000 people were killed during the musket war, the musket wars started 1807-1842 the first tribe to get muskets were Nga Puhi. The tribes got muskets by trading things like pigs and potatoes. With the Māori having muskets it did change a few things like their tribal boundaries it also made a population shift and gave them a connection to the outside world like never before. So, to round it off the Declaration of Independence was needed to stop the war and stop people from killing each other.

In conclusion, a treaty was needed because of the concerns of the lawlessness of British subjects in New Zealand and in response to a fear that France would declare sovereignty over the islands. The missionaries encouraged the Māori to sign the Declaration of Independence because the missionaries were worried about other people buying land, which is why they bought land to give to the Māori. When the British settlers came to New Zealand and traded with the Māori for muskets it caused a lot of trouble which is why it was needed.

Still in the works.

Tokyo Revengers Review

So as a summary of the review, Tokyo Revengers anime is worth your time because it is simply so much fun, great production and very good music, events that make you feel excited, thrilled and shocked in every episode, but because of the writing and some gaps at the end of the season events I think it deserves 10/10. Undoubtedly, one of the very best of 2021. Tokyo Revengers tells a very unique storyline. Time travel in a work of fiction can go badly if handled poorly but this anime handles it quite well. In addition, the plot is unpredictable and the characters, both the protagonist and side characters, are well written.

What Is Tokyo Revengers? 5 Reasons to Watch This Anime Series - whatNerd

Tokyo Revengers is full of interesting characters who add valuable contributions to the plot and make the story more captivating. From the childish yet fierce gang commander Manjiro Sano to his loyal subordinates, every name in the series has its own part in making the series fascinating and worth binge-watching.

My favorite character is Hanma I just love how he is written and the plot to him is so good, but he is the bad guy who joins the good team. Hanma is a very competent fighter. He is able to beat a number of delinquents by himself. He especially stands out in endurance. Draken called him "Zombie" for that very reason, since it took Draken a surprising amount of hits in order to eventually defeat Hanma.

Today Caleb had presented the class with his speech to earn credits, the speech was about how cigarettes should be banned in public. During the speech he did mumble.

Attack on Titan

Attack on Titan is an anime show that I very much enjoy, the main plot to the show is a world that is surrendered by three enormous walls that protect them from gigantic human eating monsters. The show is amazingly written  because you can never predict what would happen in the show. The main character is a teenager Eren Yeager who is very mature for his age, at the start he is all about saving humanity from the titans until something changed his point of view that made him became an evil guy. Attack On Titan' final season to stream on Hulu, Crunchyroll and Funimation

This is what makes Attack on Titan a great anime because it is so unpredictable so you will never know what will come next. You can never get bored watching the show because there is almost never any filler episodes, there also not scared to get rid of there main character. There are only 75 episodes and they are all 20mins long so you should be able to finish it in a week or less. So far there are 4 seasons and the second part of season 4 is coming out next year 2022.

Science (Volcano) Experiment

Pick a volcano - White Island

Where is it? It is located 48km from the east coast of the North Island of New Zealand, in the Bay of Plenty

What's special about it? It has been built up by continuous volcanic activity over the past 150,000 years.

When did it last erupt? What was the damage? 9 Dec 2019: Eighteen people were killed and a further 26 were seriously injured, many crucially. It also sent a plume of ash and gas more than 3.5km into the air.

What are the local stories/ myths about this volcano? The volcanoes Ngauruhoe, Tongariro, and White Island are present in a Maori legend. A medicine man named Ngatoro was climbing up Tongariro with a woman named Auruhoe. He told his followers not to eat while he was gone in order to give him strength on top of the cold mountain.

Conclusion?

Climate Change

 What is the greenhouse effect?

The greenhouse effect is a process that happens when the gases in the earths atmosphere traps the suns heat, this process makes earth much warmer than it would be without an atmosphere. The greenhouse effect is one of the thing that makes earth a comfortable place to live. It's also warming the earths surface and the air above it, that's caused by the gases in the air that trap energy from the sun. These heat-trapping gases are called greenhouse gases, the most common greenhouse gases are water vapor, carbon dioxide, and methane.

What are 3 bad things/consequences?

  • Climate change by trapping in the heat.
  • Extreme weather.
  • Food supply disruptions.
Possible solution?
There a lot of possible solutions to fixing the greenhouse effect, here are a few ways to stop the greenhouse effect. Using renewable things and other climate-friendly energy resources, examples include rooftop solar  panels, solar water heating, and small-scale wind generation.

What is the Paris agreement?
The Paris agreement is the legally binding international treaty on climate change, it was adopted by 196 parties at COP 21 in Paris. On 12 December 2015 and entered into force on 4 November 2016, it's a goal to limit global warming to well below 2 preferably 1.5 degrees Celsius.

Science (Eclipses)

 Solar Eclipse (Day)

The moon blocks the sun during the day which means the sun will disappear and in the middle of the day it would go pitch black for 15mins. Sadly the the path of the total solar eclipse doesn't cross our small country very often, the last one was 1965 and the next one will be in 2028 in which it will cross over the lower south island.

Lunar Eclipse (Night)

A lunar eclipse appears when the earths shadow block the sun and it's light reflects off the moon, a lunar eclipse can only occur if the moon is opposite of the sun in the sky, a monthly occurrence we know as the full moon. The lunar eclipse will be in November 19, and the next one is not comfrimed.

Science (Plant Cell & Animal Cell)

Large Vacuole - A large vacuole is found inside of a plants cell, vacuole are within the cytoplasm of a cell that function's in several different ways. In mature plants cells vacuole tend to be very large and are extremely important.

Cell Wall - A cell wall is structure surrendering some types of cell, just outside the cell membrane it can be tough, flexible, and sometimes rigid. It provides the cell with both structural support and protection.

Cell Membrane - Cell membrane act as barriers and gatekeepers, the cell membrane also works as an selective filter because it chooses what to let in and what to let out.

Chloroplast - Chloroplast are plant cells that change light energy into a relatively stable chemical energy via the photosynthetic process.

Cytoplasm - A cytoplasm is a thick solution that fills each cell and is enclosed by the cell membrane, it mainly contains composed waters, salts, and proteins.

Nucleus - A nucleus is a cell membrane-bound organelle that contains the cells chromosomes, it also controls the activities of the cell.

Poetry

We have been learning how to make different types of poetry they were free verse poem, a haiku poem and Limerick we had to choose two types of the poem to do and chose a picture to go with it. The two I did are haiku and free verse here is my poem and picture that I chose.
There once was a butterfly
On a rose
It flew so high
As long as it can
Then comes a prayingmentis
Here to seek his pray

Before he knew his time was due.

Story and film Elements

So in English today we have to make a about presentation symbolism, motifs, sub-text and pathetic fallacy in films.

Symbolism:

In many films they use symbolism these things can include an object, color, character, plot, sound, special effects, and etc. Films themselves are a metaphors and symbols for your films, symbolism is a big part for being a visual storyteller. Symbolic images in films help us to understand concepts that cannot always be translated to word, an example of symbolism.

  • Black is used to symbolize death or evil.
  • White stands for life and purity.

Symbolism can create an indelible impression on and audience, symbolism runs through literature, poetry, and screenwriting.

Motifs:

In films they use a repeated narrative element that supports the theme of the film, a motifs can be presentation
