Reflection (Athletics Day)

Title:Athletics Day

Today in wanaga we had to read a story I don't really like to read with the class because the books we have to read are boring. At the start when miss was reading I wasn't actually interested in the story so when miss told us to do our blog I didn't start straight away because I was talking. I also didn't do the blog because like I said I didn't actually hear what miss was saying because you know how the saying goes fake it till you make. But I don't mind silent reading but I like to read books that I am interested in so when tells me that we had to read a book with the class I was really disappointed. I also don't like how we went to the library once that whole time we have been at school because I finished my book that I already finish reading. At first I thought that we would go to the library at least once a week, I don't want to go to the library at lunch because I have other things to do at lunch and morning tea. This is what I read in this book is that

Reflection section

So in wanaga we have been doing silent reading, the book I have been reading is a book is  a magazine, in this magazine I read about these snow owl's did you know that now owl's are one of the most fierce animals alive. So many people are surprised that a little baby snow owl turns into a fierce predator, snow owl's like to eat lemming, an adult snowy owl eats 1,600 lemmings each year snowy owls have feathers on there feet to keep their feet warm. An adult snowy owl prowls across the snow in Canada an snowy owl has bristles on their beaks that help them sense nearby objects, female snowy owl's stay with there young while males bring the food to feed the female. once he brings the food the female snowy owl breaks the easy to chew parts and feeds it to the young.

Music through time (Spiritual song)

Slaves back in the day use to sing spiritual songs for house praises and they also used it for when people would die. Slaves became very religious people, church people so when they would sing they would add some bible verses to the songs they were singing. The way they would sing is that they would get into a group they would have bush meetings and there would be one leader who would sing while the others hum along. After the leader finish saying something the group would sing along with her, also when singing the song they would also do dances and sometimes they would enter ecstatic trance.

They were used for:

  • Uplift slaves.
  • Give them hope.
  • Church, funerals and if allowed weddings.
  • Relay secret messages to help them escape, like wade in you water.
Harriet Tubman was born into slavery, Tubman escaped and came back trying to help others escape approximately 70 enslaved people including family and friends. Using safe houses known as underground railroad, the underground railroad  was a network of secret routes and safe houses they were used by enslaved African-Americans to escape into free states and Canada.
Wade in water:

Harriet Tubman used the song Wade in the water to tell escaping slaves to get off the trail and into the water to make sure the dogs slave catchers used couldn't sniff out their trail. People walking through water did not leave a scent trail that dogs could follow. Read the words of "Wade in the Water."

It just about connecting it today because the black live matter and connecting the rappers and singers songs to the olden days for when they use secret meanings. We also still use it in church and other things.

Model Atom

Aim: To make a model atom

Method:

  1. Choose an atom to make ( one between Hydrogen and Neon)
  2. Work out how many protons, neutrons and electrons it has.
  3. Assign protons and neutrons to a particular color bead.
  4. Get a ball blue tac and stick the protons and neutrons to this to make your nucleus.
  5. Cut out the appropriate electron shells and draw on the electrons with vivid.
  6. Connect the nucleus and electron shells and draw on the electrons with vivid.
  7. Create a label to go above the model so people know what you have created.
Results:

Discussion-
Atomic+mass number = 3/7
Number of protons = 3, neutrons = 4 and electrons = 3
Electrons arrangement - We had 2 dots in the middle shell and 1 dot on the second shell.
2 facts about your atom - Lithium is the lightest metal, lithium is used extensively in rechargeable batteries.

Conclusion
So in the end my atom model did work it as you can see in the photo but it broke a part afterwards, I would've add more blue tac to the atoms to the nucleus so it doesn't brake a part.
